    Job summary

    This is an exciting opportunity to work in the respiratory support team (RST) at Queen Elizabeth Hospital to cover a period of maternity leave until April 2025. RST is a dynamic multi-professional team of respiratory nurses and physiotherapists who see patients with long term respiratory conditions to optimise their care. The role is based across the pathway of patient care, including clinics, inpatients and within the patient home. The role involves collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. We are seeking a nurse or physiotherapist with experience in respiratory medicine to join the team.

    Main duties of the job

    We are seeking a registered nurse or physiotherapist who is keen to develop their knowledge and skills working with people with long term respiratory conditions. You will have experience caring for patients with respiratory conditions such as COPD or asthma. You will have an understanding of disease management and treatment including optimising their care through disease education and self management. You will be able to work within the team to optimise patient care and work independently with indirect supervision from senior members of the clinical team. You will see patients within clinics, on the wards and virtually via telephone or video link. You will need to be competent using technology.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration, or Registered Physiotherapist HCPC
  • Evidence of post registration CPD / post registration qualification in respiratory medicine or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to
  • FHEQ Level 6
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC/HCPC
  • Significant post registration experience, with evidence of passion/ enthusiasm and knowledge for the associated area of specialist practice
  • Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality
  • Experience and enthusiasm for teaching/assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment
  • Desirable

  • Competencies in respiratory practice, such as trained to administer NIV.
  • Experience of working in health promotion.
