    Information Governance Team LeaderRemuneration:
    £45,573 - £48,836 per annum and generous benefits including Local Government Pension SchemeIntroduction:This is an exciting time for Legal Services at Waverley. We've recently undergone a restructure and are now taking steps to appoint a number of key roles within this fast-paced team environment. These new roles will help shape the future of the team, as we seek to contribute to the delivery of our overall Council commitments for the Borough and its residents.

    As Information Governance Team Leader you will be the Council's statutory Data Protection Officer and with this responsibility you will provide direction, support and advice to the Council and Elected Members to ensure that we fulfil our statutory obligations in dealing with all access to information legislation.


    Key Responsibilities:


    Take the lead in providing expert advice to Council officers and elected members relating to all aspects of information governance including but not limited to ensuring compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR), the UKGDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA2018)Act as the principal point of contact for the Information Commissioner's Office on issues relating to information governance and compliance with relevant information governance legislations.

    Ensure that data protection and information rights compliance and best practice is promoted across the Council by ensuring that standards are defined and maintained and set in relevant policies and proceduresAbility to provide training for internal staff on information governance legislations such as FOIA and UKGDPR/DPA 2018 with particular emphasis on how to apply the various exemptions available under information governance legislationLead a small team, ensuring that an excellent level of service is provided to all internal and external customersAbout you:
    To be successful in securing this position you will possess:Previous working experience and expert knowledge of information governance i.e.

    FOIA, EIR and UKGDPRPrevious experience of advising internal customers on data protection and information governanceEffective organisational and administrative skills, with an ability to plan and manage your own workloadThe ability to confidently communicate with a range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority including dealing with complaints from members of the public and supporting Members of the Council regarding FOIA/EIR and data protection queriesRewarding you:
