Stockport County Football Club currently compete in the EFL League Two, the club is built on community with a loyal and dedicated fan base.

Following our return to the Football League we now have a dedicated Academy setup as well as links to a Ladies team, who along with staff across the business, will be supported by this newly created role.


The primary purpose of the Safeguarding Officer role will be to oversee and direct the provision of all safeguarding activities and associated training across Stockport County.

This will involve ensuring there is a club-wide awareness of current legislative obligations in respect of safeguarding and to advise and support all staff, including the Academy and Community Trust designated safeguarding champions, in their roles and responsibilities.

This role will be the primary safeguarding contact for match days at the stadium and will report to the Board of Directors regularly.


Roles & Responsibilities

Key duties include:

  • To provide the Board with safeguarding updates and to work collaboratively with the Senior Management Team to ensure that safeguarding is prioritised across all areas of the Club.
  • Maintain the single central record of safeguarding qualifications & undertake relevant DBS checks.
  • Work closely with the Head of People to ensure compliance with the Club's Safer Recruitment Policy.
  • Identify and mitigate safeguarding risks to the Club and individuals.
  • Monitor and review safeguarding provisions for match days and training.
  • Proactively promote and raise safeguarding awareness across the Club, leading on staff training sessions.
  • Lead on regular reviews and audits of the Club's safeguarding procedures, ensuring they meet requirements.
  • To keep up to date with all relevant issues and trends in safeguarding, as well as any updates to safeguarding legislation and governing body rules.
  • Establish and develop a Club approach to safeguarding children and adults at risk
  • Maintain, implement and update safeguarding policies, procedures and practice to ensure compliance
  • Represent the Club at both internal and external meetings related to safeguarding
  • Coordinate dissemination of policies, procedures and resources as required
  • Act as the first point of contact for any report of suspicion or concern relating to the welfare or safety of a child of adult at risk
  • Manage and have an oversight of any reporting, referrals and sharing of information with other organisations
  • Experience of working with children, young people & adults at risk.
  • Experience of acting as a Designated Safeguarding Officer/Safeguarding Lead in a fastpaced environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of core legislation, government guidance and national framework for child protection
  • FA Safeguarding Certificate
  • Enhanced DBS check

Salary:
£35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
