    Job summary

    Whilst the role�s permanent workplace is based in Darlington, DBS offer flexibility which would allow the successful candidate to work remotely for a proportion of their contractual hours, with an expectation the postholder would visit Darlington (DL1 4WB) with accordance of the needs of the organisation. Therefore, applications from candidates who reside in a non-typical geographical commuting distance to Darlington are welcome. Whilst flexible and remote working is accessible, the base location is Stephenson House, DL1 4WB. The cost of travel to commute to the base and the cost of accommodation if required, sits with the successful candidate.

    To provide administrative support to DBS staff in Barring & Safeguarding. You will work as part of a dynamic team preparing and responding to correspondence, making and receiving telephone calls to customers and stakeholders and providing administrative support such as maintaining databases. You will work in accordance with DBS policies and procedures and within agreed time frames.

    Job description

    To carry out general administrative duties in support of teams across all areas of the business. Undertaking duties such as (but not limited to):

    �������� Provide a range of administrative support for casework progression and safeguarding

    �������� Answering a range of internal and external customer queries via e-mail, telephone and post

    �������� Word processing / database managements

    �������� Record incoming and outgoing correspondence accurately, linking to the appropriate department

    �������� Scanning documents

    �������� Information gathering via stakeholders

    �������� Redacting / anonymising personal information from documentation

    �������� Ensure correspondence is managed promptly and effectively and ensure that necessary records are created and contain accurate and appropriate information

    �������� Manage databases of information for the appropriate team and highlight areas where action is needed

    �������� Issue routine correspondence and papers, ranging from letters to individuals through to sharing identified information with stakeholders

    �������� Working with colleagues to monitor and maintain guidance and procedures, updating where necessary

    �������� Reply to correspondence, make, and answer telephone calls to / from internal staff and external partners

    �������� Take responsibility for prioritising and managing own workload

    �������� Liaise with colleagues across multiple sites

    Person specification

  • Essential Criteria
    � Good verbal and written communication skills
    � Manage your own workload effectively
    � Must be experienced in Microsoft Office Word and Excel

    Desirable Criteria
    � Ability to use records management systems and PowerPoint would be an advantage
  • Previous experience working in a frontline customer contact role
