- Take ownership of works from start to finish including handover
- Supervise works and a team of foremen, gangers, plant operators, subcontractors and a direct labour force making sure they have all the information they need
- Focus on Zero Harm, identify potential hazards and implement controls
- Help to produce work package plans, risk assessments and task briefing sheets
- Provide recommendations for temporary works solutions
- Carry out inspections to keep progress on track and quality levels at their highest
- Make sure that all plant and small tools are well maintained
- Assess material wastage allowances and make improvements if needed
- Identify requirements for setting out to engineering teams.
- Stay up to date on changes in relevant legislation such as health and safety
- Bring experience of delivering engaging toolbox talks, allocating resource, monitoring key programme dates and managing the works of direct labour and subcontractors
- Understand contract documents, construction tolerances and test plans
- Think commercially and understand the terms and outputs of subcontractors
- Be willing to work some unsociable hours to keep everything moving forwards.
- Have experience on civil engineering projects
