The job itself

We are looking for 2 Direct payment workers to look after a 10-year-old boy with cerebral palsy effecting the right side of his body, Epilepsy and learning difficulties therefore he needs full support to move around and stay safe he uses a wheelchair for days out. He will need personal care.

He can display challenging and impulsive behaviours and pervious experience would be desirable. Sessions will be on a 2:1 basis so carers will be able to support each other to keep him safe during sessions.

The young boy loves music and performing and has a great sense of humour. He enjoys new experiences, and his interests include swimming, parks, water play, group activity, trains, or a day at the coast. The workers should have knowledge of working with children with complex needs and should be approachable and confident in working with young people.

Access to a car is essential. The workers will need to be flexible and understand that the day's activities may be led by how the boy is feeling. The family would ideally like workers that can commit to doing long term work with the young person.

The family are flexible and open to discussions regarding the role and could suit two friends / colleagues who can enjoy spending time with an energetic, fun-loving child who requires support to flourish and enjoy outings.
