Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel specialising Maritime Law to join a dynamic team temporarily to cover maternity leave, this role is working with a large in-house corporate. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in mentoring junior team members, handling key legal matters, and ensuring compliance within the maritime industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal professional with a strong background in sea freight operations and logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mentoring and providing guidance to two junior team members, including one trainee.
• Handling legal matters pertaining to Maritime Law, with a focus on sea freight operations.
• Drafting and negotiating contracts related to logistics, including sea, air, and road transportation.
• Managing issues such as loss of Bill of Lading's and Committed Volume Agreements.
• Addressing debt matters and customs-related ports.
• Ensuring compliance with sanctions and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

Requirements:

• Minimum 4+ years of experience in Maritime Law, with a strong emphasis on sea freight operations.
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating contracts.
• Familiarity with logistics matters including sea, air, and road transportation.
• Knowledge of debt matters and customs-related ports.
• Ability to work across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience in sanctions and compliance is preferred but not essential.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.
• England & Wales qualified solicitor with 4+ years experience working in dry shipping matters.
