We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Logistics Coordinator to join our team at Petrasco Energy Logistics at our Aberdeen Offices on a full time, permanent basis.


The core responsibilities include:


  • Organising the import, export or domestic movement of cargo, by any mode of transport, or by any combination of modes.
  • Monitor and manage cargo movements from point of origin to destination.
  • Provide professional advice and support to existing and potential customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate legislation and regulations governing the movement of cargo and the documentation relevant to it.
  • Maintain close working ties with customers and provide advice to management, via regular operations meetings, on any action needed.

Import-related duties and responsibilities:


  • Source quotations from companydesignated agents for the movement of cargo from their area to specific destination(s) for various modes of transport e.g., air, sea, road, rail.
  • Once instructed by our customer, arrange exworks collections from various origin points by using said companydesignated agents.
  • Arrange cargo marine insurance on behalf of customer where appropriate.
  • Prompt notification to customers of cargo E.T.A. and actual arrival.
  • Agree appropriate Customs Tariff Classification(s) with customer.
  • Follow customer's specific instructions with respect to Customs clearance, ensuring VAT and duty liabilities are accurately and correctly calculated.
  • Ensure Customs clearance is effected in a prompt and efficient manner and delivery completed with the minimum of delay.

Export-related duties and responsibilities:


  • Arrange haulage of cargo from origin point.
  • Negotiate with these carriers with respect to specific rates, spot rates, space availability, general handling charges and service capabilities.
  • Calculate and supply competitive quotations to existing and/or potential customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate legislation and regulations governing the movement of cargo and the documentation relevant to it.
  • Understand electronic links with UK Customs e.g., CHIEF etc.
  • Understand and comply with requirements of various HMCE/Govt./Port controls for export movement of cargo e.g., Tariff Classification, End Use, IPR, OPR, Drawback, NES, DTI Export Licensing etc.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Ability to build effective business relationships.
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Team player, confident when working collaboratively with others and working independently when required.
  • Results orientated approach, ability to meet targets and deadlines.

Essential Requirements:


  • Recent experience working in Freight Forwarding is essential.
  • Proven experience of dealing with HMRC, Airlines, Shipping Lines and associated documentation.
  • Experience of calculating and supplying competitive quotations to potential or existing customers.
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of electronic links with UK Customs e.g., CHIEF.
  • Excellent working knowledge of various systems, HMCE/Govt./Port controls for export movement of cargo e.g., Tariff Classification, End Use, IPR, OPR, Drawback, NES, DTI Export Licensing etc.
  • Knowledge of legislation and understanding of changes to Brexit laws.
  • IT Proficiency.
