Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist- ENT/Head and Neck

We are looking for an appropriately qualified and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team and work with patients with head and neck cancer & ENT related communication and/or swallowing impairments

Queen Victoria Hospital is internationally renowned for Head and Neck reconstructive surgery and this post will involve work with patients pre- and post- surgery as both inpatients and outpatients.

You will also have opportunities to regularly engage in multi- professional activities, both internally and externally, including MDT working groups, networking opportunities across Sussex, and relevant CENs/ study events.

This role will enable you to use your own initiative to meet the different needs of patients, as well as being part of an experienced, specialist, diverse and friendly Speech and Language Therapy team.

The wider team is comprised of SLTs skilled in other medical diagnoses and we pride ourselves on sharing knowledge between our specialities & working closely as a small team.

To manage a caseload of outpatients with voice/ ENT related impairments

• To provide input to inpatient and outpatients with head and neck cancer pre and post surgery/ oncology treatment
• Rated GOOD overall with outstanding care by the CQC. A specialist NHS hospital providing lifechanging reconstructive surgery, burns care and rehabilitation services across the South of England and beyond.

We specialise in conditions of the eyes (corneoplastics), hands, head and neck cancer and skin cancer, reconstructive breast surgery, maxillofacial surgery and prosthetics, providing regional and national services in these areas of clinical expertise.

In addition, QVH provides a minor injuries unit, expert therapies, a sleep service, and a growing portfolio of community-based services.

Evidence of relevant postgraduate education and training in advanced dysphagia, tracheostomy management, counselling.

• Substantial SLT experience within an acute hospital environment, including head and neck oncology patients and complex dysphagia.
• Proven experience in developing, organising and presenting staff training programmes related to specialist field individually and to groups.
• Membership of appropriate Clinical Education Networks and specialist interest groups.
• Ability to attend spoke sites and patients in their own homes/ nursing homes.
