Multimedia Content Officer


Job purpose

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create engaging multimedia content, including videos, podcasts, infographics, animations, copy editorial, subtitles and photography to highlight and compliment the College's strategies, research, educational programmes, events, and other initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Schools, professional services staff, students, and researchers to gather information to develop content.
  • Use specialist knowledge to contribute to the development and implementation of a multimedia content plan that aligns with the College's overall communication and branding objectives.
  • Provide task overflow support for web content projects as required.
  • Research industry trends, competitors, emerging platforms, and best practices to ensure content remains innovative and effective in reaching target audiences.
  • Craft engaging stories that showcase the impact of the College's work.
  • Champion accessibility, equality, diversity & inclusion in produced multimedia.
  • Organise and maintain a repository of multimedia assets, ensuring easy accessibility for internal and external use.
  • Work closely with the College's Marketing & Communication team and wider External Relations teams to align multimedia content with broader University strategies.

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential
A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar role(s)


Or:

Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.

A2 Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects).
A3 Knowledge of current and emerging social media platforms.
A4 Demonstratable knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR initiatives and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.


Desirable-B2 Full UK driving licence.
B3 Understanding of Civilian Aviation Authority (CAA) Air Navigation Order 2016,

Essential

C1 Proven ability to create engaging digital content for a variety of channels, and the specialist requirements of these channels.

C2 Strong storytelling skills with the ability to convey complex information in an engaging and accessible manner.
C3 Ability to liaise and communicate with a wide range of staff.
C4 Excellent problem-solving skills.
C5 Excellent oral and written communication skills; including appropriate use of English language, grammar, and punctuation.
C6 Image creation and editing skills.
C7 Exceptional attention to detail.
C8 Editorial level copywriting skills.
C9 Production/project management expertise.


Desirable
D1 Proven ability to produce training and support material.
D2 360 video editing experience.


Experience

Essential
E1 Proven practical experience in multimedia content creation, including video production, photography, animation, and graphic design. E2 Professional copywriting experience.
E3 Significant experience in developing and producing audio/video, photography, and digital media.

E4 Where qualification requirements are not met, evidence must be shown of progression and development gained through significant relevant work.


Desirable
F1 Experience in the Higher Education Sector.
F2 Familiarity with University's structures and organisation, particularly in relation to research, and the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
F3 Drone piloting experience
F4 360 video editing experience

Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £32,332 - £36,024 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended.
Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate
