Estates Semi Skilled Maintenance Assistant Band hrs - Carlton clinic

An opportunity has arisen for to join the NCIC Estates Maintenance team as a Semi Skilled Maintenance Assistant based at the Carleton Clinic Carlisle


The post holder will be responsible as an Estates Semi Skilled Maintenance Assistant for providing the highest quality professional service to North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and other NHS Trusts currently under service level agreements with NCIC.


They will undertake the maintenance and repairs to a diverse range of systems within a large portfolio of different types of properties throughout Cumbria which include Acute/ Community /Mental Health Hospitals, Specialist Clinics and Administration buildings.


  • Carryout PPM's and reactive work and return all job sheets daily in a timely manner. Feedback any outstanding issues to the Estates Managers and Admin staff
  • TMV and water temperature checks to ensure prevention of legionella. Carry out meter reading checks to ensure economic use of water, gas & electricity.
  • Assist with weekly tests eg Fire Alarms
  • Undertake ventilation fire damper checks and ductwork / grilles and diffuser cleaning.
  • The range of tasks are extensive but includes clearing blocked drains, shower traps and repairing drains/waste pipes, repairing and/or fitting locks, repairing or replacing taps, repairing leaks. Work is sometimes dirty with exposure to raw sewage.
  • Carry out minor works duties
  • Replace light bulbs/tubes if required
  • To be responsible for carrying out all duties in accordance with current Health & Safety at Work Legislation.
  • Undertake emergency repairs without any supervision out of normal hours when requested and within the individual's competence.
  • Ensure workshops and plant rooms are kept in a safe and tidy condition.
  • Must be willing to undertake training as required.
  • Assist in the movement of Estates and Trust equipment throughout the Trust
