    Business Development Executive at Durham Districts Agency
    Full time
    Permanent Contract
    Monday to Friday 9am-5pm with 1 hour lunch

    About the Agency As a local agency of NFU Mutual we deliver a first-class service, and sell their product range across our region, to customers old and new, who are at the core of everything we do.

    Our Durham District Agency spans County Durham with offices in: Willington, Darlington and Barnard Castle.

    You will be based at either our Willington or Darlington office, this is a fantastic opportunity for a positive, proactive, customer focused candidate looking for an opportunity within the Insurance and Financial Services Sector.

    We have seen strong growth in commercial business in recent years and will continue to build on this.

    You will be a confident professional with the ability to consistently identify and convert potential new opportunities and will relish the challenge to drive the growth of a truly customer-focused local business.

    Ideally, you'll have already worked in a similar role and so will be no stranger to applying a flexible, people-orientated approach to everything you do.

    You will demonstrate competent use of Microsoft software and display excellent literacy skills. In return, you can expect full training in a friendly and supportive environment.

    Pro-actively seek out and research businesses within targeted commercial sectors to develop a sales pipeline of quality prospects sufficient to achieve new business targets.


    • Developing and working an existing pipeline of leads to create a database of contacts.
    • Delivery of new business.
    • Transact business compliantly within FCA requirements and always with a 'customer-first' approach.
    • Introduce the full range of NFU Mutual products, including Financial Services & Risk Management Services, along with associated Motor and Personal products.
    • utilise the extensive training, support and resources available both within the Agency and wider NFU Mutual in order to develop an in-depth understanding of our target commercial sectors and the associated NFU Mutual insurance products.
    Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, & relationship building abilities.


    • Self-Motivated and the ability to work independently to develop a pipeline of prospects and drive sales performance.
    • Experience of and an understanding of the insurance/financial services sector is preferable.
    • Minimum of Grade C/ Grade 4 in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
    • Full driving license and access to your own car for customer visits.
