- Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the Lead Mechanical Engineer will oversee and assure the hydro-mechanical/electromechanical design, implementation, operation, and optimization of the Pumped Hydro Storage scheme. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical leadership on hydropower (mechanical) engineering issues to the project team.
- Reviewing consultant/contractor designs and calculations, mechanical and electrical generating equipment designs, and instrumentation control systems.
- Preparing tender packages and negotiating tenders for key mechanical equipment packages.
- Representing the company in meetings with designers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Providing assurance and oversight of hydro/electromechanical engineering throughout pre-delivery and delivery stages.
- 15+ years of experience in hydropower or similar engineering design and build roles.
- Mechanical engineering design and installation experience in the energy or major utilities sector.
- Experience across at least one full life cycle of design and build schemes.
- Expertise in preparing employers' requirements/tender packages and oversight/assurance roles through delivery.
- Experience in document control/management on major infrastructure schemes and mechanical civils interfaces.
- Design management/project management experience.
- The successful candidate will display technical leadership, Attention to detail, Ability to build relationships, Strong presentation skills and have a self-starter mentality
- Chartered mechanical engineer
- MEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Member of IMechE or equivalent national or international professional organizations
- Project Management qualifications such as APMQ or similar
- Contract qualifications such as NEC accreditation or similar
