    WHAT TO EXPECT

    The Powertrain Metrology Laboratory operates a technical metrological service as part of Powertrain Build and Test Operations and the wider organisation, supporting varying investigation activities such as engineering development, prototype builds, root cause analysis and warranty recovery by providing high-quality measurement data and technical support.

    You will demonstrate safe working practices and be ready to challenge your colleagues to do the same – championing safety across the workplace. You'll also be empowered to drive process and facility improvements as the function grows.

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

    The successful applicant will join a multi-skilled team of Metrologists in delivering the following: -

    • Measurement of a multitude of Automotive components using varying types of measurement equipment

    • Daily laboratory activities to support requirements for Metrology requests.

    • Producing comprehensive measurement reports

    • Working to defined processes.

    • Technical support to customers

    • Competent in the use of measurement equipment and software

    • Adoption of world class 5S and Lean principles to support laboratory activities.

    • Support of company H&S and environmental requirements, Risk Assessment, COSHH etc

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience


    • NVQ 3 or City & Guilds qualification in a STEM subject (Science, Technical, Engineering & Mathematics)

    • Have a detailed knowledge of metrology, first principles and measurement equipment.

    • Have detailed knowledge of optical measurement, GOM / Zeiss inspect.

    • Can competently read and interpret engineering drawings (GD&T & alignment systems)

    • Computer literate (Microsoft software) with good verbal and written communication skills

    • Analytical and problem-solving skills

    • High attention to detail and focus on quality. Right first time.

    • Experience of 5S / general housekeeping duties, keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and performing basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment

    • Knowledge of H&S and environmental requirements, Risk Assessment, COSHH etc

    • Experience of coordinating activities to meet deliverables, including work assignments.

    • A full driving license, commitment, flexibility and self-motivation.
