Description

The purpose of the role is:

  • To support the HR Team in providing a high quality, professional and pro-active HR service to managers and colleagues.
  • To support the HR Business Partners and Head of HR in their daytoday duties.

KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • To assist the HR team in the administration of the college recruitment, selection and appointment processes relating to the full time and hourly paid staff, ensuring that these processes provide a positive image of the college as an employer.
  • To support the Hr Business Partners and Head of HR in their day to day tasks, including producing offer letters and contracts of employment etc
  • Extraction and manipulation of data in an appropriate format using a variety of systems ) producing general reports and statistical information as required, including sick absence data.
  • Provide basic employee relation advice and guidance in ER case management in cordination of the relevant HR Business Partner.
  • Support managers with sickness absence management processes, including running reports and providing sickness data to managers on a monthly bases.
  • To coordinate investigation meeting dates and support in the typing up of meeting notes
  • Be responsible for the administration of the Disclosure Barring Service checks and Update Service on behalf of the college. Comply with the safeguarding and DBS processes within the college/team.
  • To maintain and take responsibility for HR's registers and records (including the Colleges Single Central Register) ensuring they are kept up to date and compliant.
  • Creation and maintenance of the employment records using the computerised staffing system, including the monthly payroll amendments.
  • Dealing with payroll and general contact queries, liaising with payroll as and when required.
  • To operate all HR functions within the principles of GDPR.
  • Responding to enquiries from the recruitment agencies in relation to staffing vacancies.
  • Take direct responsibility for own continuous professional development.
  • Participate in the Colleges appraisal scheme.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Regulations. To take reasonable care for the health and safety of him/herself and for others affected ny his/her work and to co operate with the employer in ensuring that the health and safety responsibilities are carried out.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Single Equality Policy.
  • To undertake such other duties, commensurate with the post, which the college management may reasonably and occasionally require, including working evenings and weekends and covering for absent colleagues as and when appropriate.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • To commit to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
  • To participate in the College's Performance Management Scheme and attend such training events as are necessary to enable him/her to carry out the duties of the job description.
  • To continually improve teaching, learning and assessment through proactive CPD and sharing best practice.
  • To actively participate in the College's Quality System, including quality improvement strategies and initiatives.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post.
  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of him/her and for others affected by his/her work.
  • To actively support College Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity policies.
  • To operate/conduct all HR tasks and functions within the principles of GDPR.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

All successful applicants will undergo the following checks:

  • Enhanced DBS
  • 2 x References, one of which must be your current or most recent employer
  • Qualification validation check

SALARY
The salary range for this post is from £21,494 to £22,285 per annum. *Your starting salary will be dependent upon your qualifications and experience.

Once you have successfully passed your probationary period, your salary will increase within the salary band on an annual incremental basis, until you reach the top of the salary scale.

HOURS OF WORK
The hours of work will be based on 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum.


ANNUAL LEAVE


The post carries 25 annual leave days, plus eight public bank holidays plus a further five concessionary days as 'leave to be taken at the Principal's discretion'.

After 2 years continuous service, your annual leave entitlement will increase to 30 days per annum.


Please note that only in exceptional circumstances, with your Directors permission, will staff be able to take more than 3 consecutive weeks of leave in any leave year.
