    Your dream role:

    We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to undertake engineering activities to design, develop, verify, and maintain vehicle and system-level electrical designs to meet or exceed customer expectations and business requirements.

    Duties and responsibilities in detail:

  • As part of a team or working alone, create electrical system designs to fulfil specified requirements.
  • Undertake or support requirements capture, analysis through DFMEAs and design reviews and any subsequent actions through to completion and engineering and supplier sign-off.
  • Produce and maintain design schemes, calculations, specifications, detailed drawings and BOMs to the relevant quality, reliability, safety, and design standards.
  • Ensure common system designs, interfaces and principles are applied consistently across all systems, platforms, and territories. Promote the re-use of parts and modular design philosophies.
  • Support New Product Introduction at UK and international build sites and address issues through to closure.
  • Investigate field issues through root cause analysis and implement solutions to prevent reoccurrence and improve product reliability.
  • Work in accordance with the Engineering Product Development (EPD) process and demonstrate compliance with the deliverables through design records and documentation.
  • Interface directly with internal and external customers on technical issues and requirements. Ensuring high customer satisfaction through safe, reliable, and fit for purpose designs.
  • Prepare and present technical documentation and papers for review and communication with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant internal and international standards, best practice, and legislation. Ensure that design guides, certification requirements and vehicle compliance are fulfilled.
  • Arrange and co-ordinate activities with internal and external design partners or suppliers to achieve quality, cost, and delivery targets for each project.
  • What you will bring:

  • HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in a relevant role – opportunities for a trainee role may be considered.
  • Ideally your work experience will be gained in the automotive industry and in particular; bus, coach, HGV, specialist vehicles or tier-1 suppliers, including high-voltage systems.
  • We would also welcome those from mobile plant, rail and rolling stock, aerospace, marine, or other similar electrical and control systems engineering environments.
  • Experience of new product development and introduction.
  • Detailed understanding of vehicle electrical systems and controls.
  • Experience of Low and High Voltage vehicle systems.
  • Experience of electrical/electronic system integration and interaction.
  • Experience of systems engineering, and requirements capture.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and root cause analysis.
  • Active interest in vehicle based technologies and developments.
  • Able to communicate effectively.
  • Good team player willing to aid others.
  • Able to work without supervision under own initiative.
  • Strives for continuous improvement.
  • Take personal ownership in delivering work packages start-to-finish.
  • Willingness to travel and support UK and international projects.
