    Essex Police are looking to appoint an Engineering Services Manager who will be responsible for the delivery of an effective and efficient vehicle maintenance and repair operation across both Kent Police and Essex Police.

    As a member of the Transport Services senior leadership team, (reporting directly to the Head of Transport), the successful candidate will have strategic responsibility for the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of more than 1600 vehicles and marine craft.

    The successful candidate will contribute to the overall effectiveness of policing across Kent and Essex, through the delivery of a highly effective vehicle maintenance and repair service to front line officers to ensure they operate in safe vehicles, maintained to the highest standards.

    The successful candidate will possess a recognised vehicle engineering and management degree and/or suitable accreditation such as the Institute of the Motor Industry qualifications or equivalent and hold technical qualifications to Btec/NVQ Level 4 and EngTec.

    They will have a comprehensive understanding of the fleet industry with at least 5 years previous senior management experience within a large engineering or transport organisation.

    Experience within an emergency service and in particular a policing environment would be an advantage. Knowledge of Marine engineering and law would be desirable.
    There are additional allowances for multi-site working and travel.

    Essex Police offer agile working which allows some flexibility in terms of work arrangements.

    Due to the operational nature of this role, it will be predominantly office based at two main locations in Kent and Essex.

    This may attract a multisite working allowance. Some travel may be required to other police sites to discharge duty.
