    Your role What you'll be doing

    JOB PURPOSE

    We have an exciting new opening for an Innovation Legal Counsel to join us on a permanent basis. In this role you will be reporting to the General Counsel EU/ANZ, and provide pivotal support to the continued growth of the business. The role involves providing a variety of general commercial advice and support to a number of in-house stakeholders, managing legal business matters pertaining to the organisation. The role also involves coordinating legal matters handled by outside counsel in the UK & Europe.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assisting business leaders and colleagues in new business ventures including EV Charging and Consumer segments with a variety of legal matters including aspects of commercial and consumer law, IT, data protection, outsourcing, IP, and procurement.
    • Support and guide product development initiatives at each iteration from inception through to market launch and post-launch, in particular in relation to applicable consumer protection laws and payments regulation.
    • Prepare/review and negotiate supplier and customer contracts and various other supporting documents, including managing and improving templates.
    • Provide opinions and advice regarding the interpretation of applicable laws and regulations, contract provisions, intellectual property, data protection and other legal areas.
    • Support with corporate and company secretarial matters.

    QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

    • A qualified solicitor with PQE.
    • Strong commercial law experience with some knowledge of consumer law and payments regulation is preferred but not required.
    • Experience of working in an in-house legal team.
    • Broad experience in general commercial matters including drafting commercial contracts, intellectual property, data protection, risk management and contract management.
    • IT industry (licenses, SaaS, professional services and support and maintenance contracts) experience is preferred but not essential.
    • International commercial experience desirable with exposure to European data protection and privacy experience.

    • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills.
    • Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence and provide direction on all deals.
    • A self-motivated and hard worker who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
