    THE COMPANY:

    Our client is a large successful international bank, devoting a long history of success across the global market, that have offices based in the City.

    THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and maintain the Bank's market risk management policy suite for traded and non-traded market risk; Provide directional guidance on market risk framework and policy requirements
    • Coordinate the annual refresh of the market risk appetite and/or risk limits for UK entities, working with the first line of defence and/or HO counterparts and providing independent and effective challenge to the first line of defence input in the process as appropriate.
    • Carry out the market risk day-to-day 2LOD activities (e.g. 2LOD oversight, monitoring, etc) or ad-hoc exercise; Provide directional advisory and independent second line of defence oversight on the effectiveness of the market risk management activities in the first line of defence.
    • Provide market risk 2LOD input in other initiatives (e.g. Projects, audit, risk reviews, ICAAP, Pillar 3, Strategy Review) as require.
    • Partner with first line of defence (e.g. Trading, ALM) to promote open and effective communication and working relationship between the 1LOD and 2LOD; Contribute to the discussion with desk on market trends, business strategy, positions, P&L and risk drivers.
    • Maintain good awareness of the latest development in the business, regulatory landscape and markets. Keep management abreast of material changes or key emerging trends that could have an impact on market risk profile and market risk management practices in the UK entities.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • University degree holder or above in, finance, economics, mathematics, actuarial science, financial engineering or related quantitative disciplines. CFA/ FRM highly desirable.
    • Solid work experience in market risk management experienced (with non-traded market risk focus), either as second line (risk) or as a first line (e.g. Treasury/ALM) of defence gained in Corporate & Investment Bank, securities firms, consultancy or audit.
    • Good understanding market risk management framework, methodologies and regulation (e.g. Basel, PRA).
    • Good technical knowledge in asset & liability management and financial products (esp. Fixed Income, Currencies).
    • Proficient in the use of all Microsoft office applications and proven ability to innovate. Programming skill (e.g. Python, VBA, SQL) highly desirable.
