Job Title: Independent Non-Executive Director - Technical

Organisation: Sizewell C Decommissioning Fund Company

    Salary: Competitive Remuneration

    Location: London/Suffolk/Remote

Sizewell C Limited (SZC) business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure to be built in Suffolk. SZC are required under law to put in place binding legal and financial arrangements to meet all of their costs of decommissioning and their full share of the costs of waste management and disposal. These arrangements are to be set out in a Funded Decommissioning Programme (FDP).

A key part of the FDP is the establishment of a Fund Company, independent of SZC (the Operator), which will hold and invest funds over the lifetime of the nuclear power station and return the funds to the Operator to meet the costs of waste management and decommissioning. Consequently, SZC is now looking to appoint a Board of Directors to establish and run the Sizewell C Funded Decommissioning Company (SZC FundCo), the majority of whom are to be independent from Sizewell C Limited. One of these key appointments will be the Independent Director – Technical, who will be experienced in:

    • Nuclear liabilities management.
    • Working in Decommissioning Planning and / or Radioactive Waste Management.
    • Pressurised Water Reactor technology.

You will have a proven ability to provide robust, constructive & well-informed challenge which contributes to better decisions and improved performance. Importantly given the independent nature of the position, applicants will not have been an employee of SZC or the EDF Group in the last 5 years, had no material business relationship with SZC or EDF in the last 3 years or be currently employed by HMG.

Please send your CV to -, closing date for applications is Friday 3rd May.
