Job Summary


Work with stakeholders & Data Architect to analyse and document requirements turning these into data models and data flow designs.

Develop data loads and transformations including the metadata layers for visualisation & analysis. Daily monitoring of productiondata management and supporting issue resolution with internal and external third parties.

A senior data engineer is also expected to coordinate smaller projects / data management processes and technically mentor more junior data engineers.


Essential Job Duties
Development

  • Work with stakeholders & Data Architect to analyse and document data requirements
  • Design & documentation of data models, data flows and a Data Dictionary
  • Data development for staging, data lake/store and data warehouse components to effectively meet BI service requirements
  • Development of data extract, load and transformation routines to implement required data flows / integration
  • Development of effective data layers for visualisation and analysis e.g. data layers for Analysis Services / PowerBI and QlikView
  • Coordinate and complete robust unit testing and support broader testing of data assets
  • Preparation and documentation of releases following a defined Change Control process.
  • Tune code and investigate data issues to determine the root cause and implement fixes, coordinating with other teams where necessary
Production

  • Coordinate monitoring and support to maintain reliable data management and publishing production processes
  • Provide technical support for daily monitoring and issue resolution

Education and Experience Requirements
Qualifications and/or Experience

  • Experience in providing technical guidance and supporting junior team members
  • Extensive ETL development project experience utilizing Microsoft enterprise stack
  • Experience of a working with range of different data management platforms and their development with SQLServer
  • Significant experience of designing data models / data flows, and with publishing data sets for visualisation and analysis
  • Experience in working in Agile teams

  • Ability to work accurately under time pressure
