    Location
    You have the freedom to work from any of our various locations across the UK and Ireland, including Birmingham, Bristol, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, and St Albans. We are open to hybrid work arrangements as well.
    Role Overview:
    We are looking for a Principal HVDC Engineer to join our team in the Transmission and Distribution department in the UK and Ireland. As a Principal HVDC Engineer, you will lead the development and delivery of HVDC and FACTS activities. Your responsibilities will include providing technical expertise for bids and proposals and representing the company in client meetings.

    • Optioneering Studies
    • Design Assurance
    • Technical Bid Review
    • Site and FAT visits
    • OEM Support Services
    • Technical expert services
    • Some original design work
    You will also contribute to building the HVDC and FACTS team and potentially oversee staff as part of your role.
    Qualifications:
    • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
    • Electrical/electronic/power engineering qualification (HNC, HND, BSc/BEng, MSc/MEng)
    • Professional qualification in Electrical Engineering
    • Strong knowledge of HVDC technology and power systems engineering
    • Experience in coordinating project disciplines and external subcontractors
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to understand and communicate customer requirements
    • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles
    • Knowledge of power systems and AC/HVDC system interactions
    • Capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Participation in professional bodies such as CIGRE and IET
    • Understanding of HVDC scheme design
