    Interim External Affairs Manager (Fixed Term Contract)

    We are recruiting for a high profile mental health charity, based in London but with staff across the UK. Our client is currently seeking an interim External Affairs Manager for a fixed term contract from June 24, 2024, to December 31, 2024.

    We are seeking a versatile communications professional to lead and manage our dynamic External Affairs team. Key qualifications and attributes include:

    Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences.

    Ability to work with colleagues with colleagues to produce compelling content across various platforms, including social media, digital channels, and press outlets.

    Experience in event organization, particularly in virtual environments, and a deep understanding of audience engagement tactics.

    A track record of coming up with creative ways to increase the impact of comms activities and a background or knowledge of campaigning.

    This dynamic role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including:

    Communications and Events:

    • with and reporting to the Head of External Affairs and Income (EA&I) to oversee the daily operations of the External Affairs team, supporting initiatives such as social media management, website maintenance, and press relations.
    • in the development and execution of the communications strategy.
    • and coordinating the charity's events program.

    Leadership and Management:

    • team meetings and coordinating project planning efforts.
    • guidance and mentorship to an External Affairs Officer and an Intern, focusing on their professional development.
    • sign-off on a number of areas, including those that carry some risk to the charity
    • to the collection of key management data to assess the impact and effectiveness of external affairs activities in order to inform the decisions and strategy of the CEO

    Influencing and Stakeholder Management:

    • with the Head of EA&I to execute the influencing strategy and support campaign delivery.
    • across disciplines for example by assisting the public affairs team and making sure we are all pulling in the same direction.
    • project management abilities, organisational skills, and sound decision-making capabilities.

    Key Details:

    Annual Gross Salary: £50,209 FTE (pro rata for part-time)

    Location: London-based, with a requirement to work from our central London office at least two days per week. The office is wheelchair accessible.

    Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), with consideration for four days per week (30 hours). Flexible working arrangements are available.

    Contract Type: Temporary fixed-term contract from June 24, 2024, to December 31, 2024.

    Reporting to: Head of External Affairs and Income

    Line Management Responsibilities: Supervision of an External Affairs Officer and an Intern with an emphasis on professional development.

    Holidays: 28 days per year plus bank holidays (pro rata for part-time employees).

    Pension: Eligibility for enrolment in the workplace pension scheme, with the charity making monthly contributions equivalent to 5.5% of the gross salary (subject to meeting auto-enrolment criteria).
