Job summary
The post holder will be committed to the use of inclusive, evidenced-based applications of psychological approaches that promote positive outcomes for young people and reduce barriers to learning. The post holder will have a detailed understanding of the needs of young people who have experienced aspects linked to relational attachment or developmental trauma. They will be committed to the use of relational based approaches to supporting children, such as Emotion Coaching, Trauma-informed, solution orientated.
North Yorkshire Local Educational Authority are looking for a committed and enthusiastic, Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist to join the Inclusion Team and work directly with NYC Virtual School as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The Virtual school works with colleagues to support the education and wellbeing of looked after young people, those young people who are in care - previously looked after children, PLAC, Children in Need, CIN and young people who have a Child Protection, CP plan. There will be collaboration with the Virtual School and nationally recognised ARC, as a vital part of the role.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will:
Develop and deliver training to settings
Develop and deliver training for Virtual School personnel
Coach others in psychological approaches linked to the latest research in trauma responsive practice
Conduct action research and have the ability to carry out research for the Virtual School in accordance with their strategic objectives
Provide regular psychological case situation supervision to the Virtual School
Undertake multi-agency consultation work for schools
Make use of complex problem-solving approaches such as Circle of Adults.
Contribute to the SEMH strategic group and regional and National conferences as required by the Virtual Schools head teacher
Work closely with partners such as social work teams, Psychologically Informed Partnership Approach, PIPA psychologists with some joint working / training to support foster carers.
Offer support as required by the Virtual Schools head teacher as an integral part of the role

Job descriptionJob responsibilities
Provide support for the education and wellbeing of Children in Care, previously in care and children with a social worker.
Develop the use of inclusive, evidence-based applications of psychological approaches to promote positive outcomes for young people and reduce barriers to learning. This will include consultation around individual cases and systemic working
Deliver the North Yorkshire Attachment and Trauma Aware School Project audit and training, making sure this is kept up to date with the latest neuroscience and evidence base in this field
Support schools to develop an action research project to support practice
Provide supervision to key staff such as Virtual School around complex cases which may include further multi-agency consultation
Deliver problem-solving approaches, such as Circle of Adults, PATH, Solution Circles, MEPs around complex casework, as required and in accordance with the need of the case situation
Lead the further development of support networks such as NYC Trauma/Emotion Coaching Interest Group, the regional Emotion Coaching NE network and the North Attachment Research Community group
Ensure effective collaboration with key stakeholders to build capacity and maximise outcomes for children and young people across locality services
Enable regular audit of services, ensuring that services are compliant with national good practice, guidance, regulations, legislation including Ofsted frameworks.
