    Moffatt & Nichol is seeking an Economic Analyst to join our team in London. The ideal candidate brings an interest in global economics, trade, political and environmental events. Experience in performing research on global and US economic conditions, developing and presenting analysis in finished formats, and being capable of independently working through challenging projects/tasks within given timelines are required.

    This position sits within Moffatt & Nichol's larger Commercial Advisory Group which is centered around teams in London. We deliver a wide range of analytical services including transaction advisory and comprehensive due diligence, competitive and strategic market analyses, master-planning support, alternate land-use studies, benefit-cost analysis, and public grant assistance. Our private clients include financial institutions such as infrastructure and pension funds, investment banks, private lending institutions, private cargo owners / industrial developers and private terminal operators and public entities including port authorities and regional and local commerce / economic development teams.

  • Support spreadsheet modelling, including semi-complex operational and financial models
  • Maintaining and updating databases using SQL
  • Support the development of presentation materials detailing results and analysis
  • Conduct independent research and analysis for clients / projects
  • Contribute to and participate in client presentations
  • Lead small market / feasibility study projects
  • Develop and implement tools for the Advisory team that improve efficiencies in data collection, management, and presentation
  • Represent Moffatt & Nichol at meetings, conferences, and events
  • Domestic and international travel as needed

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, International Affairs or related field such as a numerate degree in, mathematics, operational research, or supply chain/transport
  • Master's degree is preferrable
  • 0-2 years of experience in data analysis or working in a consultancy / advisory environment
  • Excel modelling ability, knowledge of FAST standard is an advantage
  • Experience with data management / programming tools (i.e. SQK, Python, R)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Additional language fluency is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to consolidate and manipulate large data sets
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure
  • Ability to engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to carry out independent research as directed by senior consultants
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST
  • Working conditions:

    Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
