Bolton Older Adults Community Mental Health Team is seeking to recruit a highly motivated, compassionate, and enthusiastic mental health practitioner to the post of Senior Practitioner for Complex Emotional and Relational Needs.

The team delivers mental health care and treatment to older adults in the Bolton area though a multi-disciplinary team and aims to meet the mental health and social needs of people with both functional and organic presentations.

The team consists of mental health nurses, social workers, occupational therapist, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and mental health wellbeing and support, time and recovery workers.

Applicants must hold a professional qualification such as; Registered Mental health Nurse, Registered Social Worker or Occupational Therapist


The service is developing a new pathway for complex emotional and relational needs (CERN) for older adults, using Structured Clinical Management (SCM), an evidence based intervention for people who may attract a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder or have CERN.

The role of Senior Practitioner for CERN will include the development and implementation of the SCM pathway for older adults under the team.

SCM is a core modality for the trust which can be delivered by non-specialist mental health practitioners and is aimed at the core treatment areas of emotional instability, interpersonal effectiveness, impulsivity and self-injury.
