Description

This is a not to be missed opportunity to join our team as a Technical and Vocation Instructor, to support recovery and rehabilitation of patients by working within models of vocation, occupation, and education across the forensic inpatient service.

You will be part of a fascinating and challenging area of patient care.

The post is based within the medium and low secure forensic environment and offers opportunity to work within the therapies service to deliver effective assessment and interventions supporting the educational and vocational development of patients and enhancing occupational recovery.

The Technical and Vocational Instructor will deliver input to patients independently in relation to occupational therapy rehabilitation and vocational and educational attainment, with clinical supervision from a registered allied health professional.

A key part of the role will include running a woodwork workshop and therefore you must have a relevant qualification, which could include a teaching qualification in woodwork or the built environment, and equivalent experience sufficient to run a workshop.

The Technical and Vocational Instructor will ensure that service provision meets the service user needs in line with best practice, CQC standards and legislative frameworks.

This includes the management and monitoring of COSHH and the maintenance of the workshop tools and machinery.

Applicants should have a strong value base and promote holistic person-centred care, while demonstrating respect and advocating for those with mental illness, learning disabilities and personality disorder.

Experience of working within a mental health setting, a secure service, the criminal justice system or with people with behaviours of concern would be advantageous.

The Forensic Therapies Service is a well-established professional group in the service, offering excellent opportunities for professional development through joint working, supervision, training and other CPD opportunities.

We are an award winning and CQC rated good health and social care Trust delivering integrated services across Hull, East and North Yorkshire.
