About the role

Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a
Claims Handler to join our Connect Plus Services (CPS) Team based in
Leatherhead or Dartford.


We are looking for someone to join our successful claims team on the M25.

You will be part of a team effort to support the effective, efficient, best in class recovery of costs and management of all claims received or generated for the repair of damage on the network from the responsible parties.


What you'll be doing
As a
Claims Handler you'll

  • Manage claims to ensure they are continually progressed and actioned accordingly
  • Effective and efficient Claims handling and Credit control in a target driven highway services operating environment
  • Collection and processing of information relating to all types of claims
  • Support the process of the reimbursement of costs to third parties for damage incurred whilst on the network ("red claims").
  • Support the process of the recovery of repair costs from damage caused by third parties whilst on the network ("Green claims")
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all customers (internal and external)
  • Prepare claims documentation and correspondence to answer all points of claim
  • Negotiate settlement of claims with insurer and public
  • Chase outstanding invoices and report on claim progress as requested
  • Respond to queries coming into the Claims Team in a timely manner
  • Work to achieve targets and objectives set by the Claims Management Team.
  • Comply with all claims processes, policies, controls, and regulatory framework
  • Put forward improvement proposals where appropriate implementing LEAN where applicable

Who we're looking for

You'll have:

  • Experience of working in a credit control, administration or claims management environment preferably with knowledge of highways services or insurance sector.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer and administrative skills.
  • Diploma in a relevant field preferred but not essential (CII, CILA, CICM or equivalent legal background or training to provide understanding as to Claim liability
