    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for maternity cover for a Haematology Nurse Specialist at ULHT. This post is based in Lincoln but will support the Haematology CNS team Trust Wide as required. Secondments accepted with line managers approval.

    You will play a crucial role in providing excellent clinical leadership and expertise in all aspects of haematological cancer nursing by providing high quality specialist care and management throughout the patient pathway. You will co-ordinate complex patient care from diagnosis, treatment, active monitoring, survivorship and end of life. You will also work closely with tertiary centres and be actively involved with stem cell transplant and Car T Cell coordination.

    This post requires a forward thinking, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who can problem solve with the ability to manage your own case load. Working closely with the Haematology consultants and the multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for the holistic care of patients and those who need rapid and intense intervention for acute cancers.

    We would welcome candidates currently working at band 6, with experience of haematological malignancies and committed to improving the lives of people affected by cancer. As a CNS we hold regular CNS forums, offer clinical supervision and have a wide range of educational opportunities.

    Main duties of the job

    To assess patients, plan, implement and evaluate care, offer specialist advice and support to patients with a haematological malignancy from pre-diagnosis, throughout treatment, palliative and terminal stages or survival.

    Act as a source of expertise and knowledge to health care professionals.

    Act as a key worker for a clinical caseload.

    Influence patient care through indirect roles of providing specialist education and training to other staff/students and undertake research, audits and service development within haematology.

    The post holder has responsibility for maintaining client records, data entry and data processing.

    The post holder provides cross cover for colleagues during periods of absence.

  • Experienced nurse with minimum 5 years post registration experience and 3 years in haematology
  • Extensive knowledge and experience relating to all aspect of haemato-oncology
  • Experience of teaching in clinical area

  • Able to demonstrate 'evidence' of working within the MDT
