KBS Maritime is a joint venture between KBR and BAE Systems. Established in 2021, we have been created to deliver dedicated services of Hard Facilities Management and Alongside Services at Portsmouth Naval Base in support of the Royal Navy.

:

We are currently seeking a number of multi skilled Port Operatives to be part of the Alongside
Services operations department. This exciting opportunity has daily responsibilities based around supporting the berthing and movement of warships within the Naval Base, as a slinger/signaller and driving various MHE vehicles as required.

The role

:

You will be involved in all Alongside Services activities including the sailing and receiving of warships from the Royal Navy and foreign navies.

This will include preparing a berth, line handling and attaching and removing gangways.

More challenging tasks include taking ships through locks and into dry docks and also operating on a Jack Up Barge, lifting vessels from the water and into the Ship Hall for maintenance periods.

You will also act as a slinger/signaller and be expected to drive a minimum of 2 types of MHE (FLT, Telehandler, MEWP etc) as well as other vehicles.

Training will be provided.

A full UK driving license is essential for this role.

Salary depending on qualifications, skills and licenses held.

Role Purpose:
To be part of the Alongside Services Team, working in a safe and flexible manner.

We require you to:

Develop and maintain an excellent working knowledge of Alongside Services Operations
Learn new skills and attend training courses as required ie; gain full competency in manufacturing rigging items, driving new MHE vehicles etc
To work in a flexible manner by being part of oncall rotas and willing to work occasional overtime to meet the many demands of the business

Role Responsibilities

:

As part of the Alongside Services team you will typically be:

Able to demonstrate a good understanding of SHE principles
Able to demonstrate a flexible approach and be willing to learn new skills
A proactive team player with a "can do" attitude
IT literate and familiar with using a smart phone
Have previously worked as part of a team undertaking high risk operations
Capable working at height when required

Ideally you will have experience in;

Operating as part of a of a multidisciplined team delivering against tight schedules
Line Handling
Manufacturing rigging items
Operating Manual Handling Equipment
Heavy lift operations as a slinger/signaller
