    Your role at a glance

    A paralegal role within the in-house real estate equity funds legal team assisting the legal team in its provision of legal advice and general legal functions to the wider real estate equity business which manages a wide portfolio of different types of real estate held with a number of different funds and structures.

    Alongside real estate, you would have exposure to different legal disciplines relevant to the platform, including corporate and company law, funds, financings, litigation, regulatory matters and corporate governance.

    The role itself is also fairly broad (general responsibilities are included in the description below) offering the candidate selected the opportunity for wide general experience, outside what would typically be usual in a private practice paralegal function

    You would be expected to provide excellent service at all times, making positive contributions to supporting the business of LGIM Real Assets. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required, along with a willingness to work on a variety of different functions and tasks and interact with various different stakeholders within the LGIM Real Assets business and more widely within the L&G group

    What you'll be doing

    • You will review and negotiation of NDAs and confidentiality agreements (using or as against the platforms template NDA forms) and third-party supplier and service provider engagements (typically as against the platform's standard terms and conditions); review and negotiation of wider commercial documents on an ad hoc basis, with the support of the wider legal team or external counsel where appropriate
    • You will be maintaining and updating legal policies and procedures applicable to the platform with responsibility for maintaining various registers and records (i.e. structure charts, conflicts of interests, NDAs, disputes)
    • You will have responsibility for annual renewal of (or inception of) signing and approval powers of attorney across a number of entities within the fund holding structures
    • You will be a key point of contact within the legal team both internally and externally for queries relating to signing of documents and signing authorities and maintaining the signing procedure to reflect changes in directors/authorized signatories/new entities etc
    • You will provide ad hoc company secretarial assistance (including preparing and holding occasional board meetings) and providing support to the business on transactional or administrative matters (including liaising with administrators, trustees and external counsel; assisting with KYC processes)
    • You will be providing support to members of the legal team and wider stakeholders as needed
    Qualifications
    • Experience in a paralegal role, ideally within one or more of the legal areas mentioned above. Private practice experience is preferred but not absolutely necessary.
    • LPC or SQE level qualifications
    • Proficient in IT/document management
    • Some understanding of the wide range of legal and regulatory issues that affect our business.
    • Strong communicator who is able to work accurately and compliantly.
    • Demonstrable experience of securing, drafting and processing legal documents.
