CPJ Field & Company Ltd, an independent and family-owned funeral company, require a very special person to join our team dedicated to serving families at one of the most difficult times in their lives.

We currently have a vacancy for a full time qualified Embalmer to cover our Ballard and Shortall Funeral Homes in East Grinstead and other Funeral Homes for CPJ Field as required.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to provide exceptional care to our clients and families.

You will be working with and providing support to the Funeral Directors to provide an excellent service for customers and assist with the process of preparing the deceased in accordance with family wishes alongside arranging and planning funeral services.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly in a tight knit team environment.

Specific Roles & Duties

  • To carry out preparation of the deceased in accordance with the wishes of the next of kin at the time of making funeral arrangements.
  • To oversee the day to day running of the mortuary/ embalming room.
  • To ensure the correct maintenance/ cleaning of the mortuary/ embalming room on a daily and weekly basis.
  • To carry out tests as required to ensure correct function of extraction systems/ formaldehyde exposure monitoring.
  • To carry out stock control of embalming and mortuary products and raise orders when required for such items.
  • To be available to travel to other funeral homes and viewing facilities for the cosmetic treatment of deceased persons as required to enhance the viewing experience of clients visiting the deceased.
  • To promote the benefits of embalming and caring for the deceased to staff within the company as well as being available to answer questions concerning embalming and preparation of the deceased to clients of the company.
  • To assist where possible and appropriate with other duties within the funeral home workload permitting
  • To be willing to travel to other places of work, at the reasonable request of the company to cover other embalmers absence, holiday or sick leave.
  • Seeks out opportunities to raise brand awareness and strives to grow added value to the funeral experience.
  • Works collaboratively with management team to achieve the ethos that the company "is more than just a funeral directors".
Skills & Experience

  • To ensure consistent delivery of the highest levels of client service.
  • Ensuring that they and their colleagues respond and behave in ways that, at all times, show sensitivity to the differing needs and requirements of the bereaved.
  • Positively reinforce excellent client service, through the initiatives in "Care of the deceased"
  • Improving services, through client contact and experience, through Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion about the funeral profession.
  • Building and maintaining branch relationships.
  • Strong understanding of the company's values and ethos.
  • Proactive approach to seeking out new opportunities to improve care of the deceased
  • Mentor role for colleagues, encouraging and nurturing enthusiasm.
  • Part of your role will also require you to enter care homes, for this reason you will need to be fully vaccinated with the coronavirus (COVID19) vaccine, unless you are medically exempt. If you are successful in the Recruitment and Selection process, you will be required to produce your vaccination certificate/pass or medical exemption at interview stage._

The role will be based at our Ballard and Shortall Funeral Home in East Grinstead with the requirement to travel to other Funeral Homes for CPJ Field as required.

Salary is dependant on experience

£28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
