Salary: £46,755 - £57,544 (Scale A 3-11, including up to 3 SPA points; min.

Walsall EPS is situated within the SEND and Inclusion Service with strong links within the wider Access and Inclusion Service, including Early Years, and Virtual School, as well as health and social care colleagues.

Agile working allows for flexibility, but our office base is accessed frequently by the team providing opportunities for peer supervision and support.

Walsall Educational Psychology Service is a creative and extremely supportive service looking to recruit qualified Educational Psychologists to expand our existing team and contribute to the exciting development of the service.

A number of positions are available.

Two of these posts will be shared with the Virtual School (VS), where successful applicants will work 2 days a week with the VS Specialist Support Team, alongside EP colleagues, CAMHs and SALT to further develop our Trauma & Attachment Schools Project and develop and deliver the VS training offer to schools, social workers, carers and other educational professionals with a focus on improving educational outcomes for Walsall's children in care and children with a social worker.

This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to develop their career without taking on management responsibilities.

We are continuing to develop our traded service and are delivering a balance of different areas of work.

Walsall EPS is commissioned to deliver statutory work, where we are introducing a model of
'advice through co-production' to reduce the need for extended written reports.

We also provide core work (including Early Years, critical incident support and support for vulnerable children and young people with EHCPs) and a range of traded psychological services to schools and settings where demand for the service remains high.

We deliver the Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) programme to schools across the borough and are involved in the delivery of Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs).

We would welcome applicants who would like to support in these areas as well as with new initiatives (such as MELSA and SCERTS, for example).

Walsall Council recognises the value of Educational Psychology at an operational and strategic level, and we are seeking to increase our capacity to meet the growing demand.

Walsall EPS is a dynamic service with lots of exciting opportunities and advantages, including:

  • protected time to develop areas of specialism
- the opportunity for all Educational Psychologists to contribute to service development initiatives and central training
- access to a range of professional development activities, including a programme of team CPD/development days
- working in a centrally based service with a strong team identity and regular opportunities for peer support
- regular professional and peer supervision
- free parking and a central office base
- access to excellent admin support
- laptop and smartphone with excellent ICT support
- a flexi-time system and agile working
- generous annual leave
- a commitment to supporting work-life balance via transparent allocation and workflow systems
