    Alexander Steele has partnered with a leading food ingredients business based in East Lothian as they wish to add to their engineering department and hire a Maintenance Engineer.

    Responsible to the Maintenance Supervisor for ensuring the required levels of production are achieved by maintaining plant and equipment to the required standards and dealing with breakdowns effectively and efficiently.


    Responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer:
    To carry out planned and non-routine maintenance, including breakdown, utilising appropriate testing regimes.
    Liaise with management to report any obvious maintenance anomalies and to be familiar with the latest instructions and procedures.
    Recommend alterations and improvements for enhanced operation.
    Contribute to the installation and commissioning of new equipment and plant.
    Provide assistance and work flexibly (with due regard to competence, capability and knowledge) with site staff and tradesmen.
    Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within and around the engineering workshop and plant control rooms.
    Where required, deputise for maintenance supervisorUndertake training and provide cover as per business requirements.


    Qualifications, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceESSENTIAL:
    Recognised apprenticeship or Electrical trade qualificationElectrical TestingElectrical fault findingElectrical fault finding without wiring diagramsElectrical installation & inspectionWorking knowledge of PLC systemsExcellent problem-solving abilityPossess a mechanical aptitudeSelf-motivated and able to work under own initiative or as part of a teamHave a can-do attitudeQuality awareness


    DESIRABLE:
    Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualificationRecognised Welding and or Fabrication qualificationInstitute of Electrical Engineers 18th Edition RegulationsWilling to learn/train in various areas relating to the positionWelding, MIG, TIG, ArcMetal work and FabricationPractical experience in an industrial scale production environment

    On Offer:
    Salary & Hours of Work: £43, 948 (£40,000 plus an on-call allowance of £3,948)
