An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in a full-time role as a Band 6 Substance Misuse Nurse or Substance Misuse Specialist depending on qualifications.

You will have 2 years experience in Substance Misuse and mental health with knowledge, skills and experience in key working people with substance misuse issues.

We have several posts available to work as part of our i-access Community Drug and Alcohol Service. The posts will cover each of our 3 main hubs in the NW SW and East Surrey.

The successful candidates will be enthusiastic, committed to working with people with substance misuse problems and supporting them towards improving their health and wellbeing in their recovery from addiction.

The role consists of providing clinical interventions including OST prescription management, alcohol interventions, BBV testing and vaccination for those service users who have complex needs including pregnancy, mental and physical health issues

This role comprises of offering high quality evidence based interventions in line with treatment pathways.

Additional roles would involve, but are not limited to, facilitating groups/1:1 interventions for service users at different stages of their recovery journey for the wider i-access community teams.

Suitable for someone who is a professional, dynamic and experienced clinician and has excellent complex risk management and crisis intervention skills in a fast moving environment, adaptable and can meet the needs of Service Users establishing strong professional supportive relationships.

You will have knowledge, skills and experience in Mental Health and Substance Misuse with an excellent understanding of the recovery agenda.

Developing strength-based recovery plans with individuals that are comprehensive, person-centred and individualised based on a clear assessment of the individuals needs and circumstances.

Manage a case load with some complex service users including Safeguarding Children/Adult, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol issues providing 1:1 key working and group work according to the needs of the service.

Ability to manage a caseload including diary management, record keeping, care planning and risk assessments.

To be part of the i-access team and liaise with relevant professionals in delivering appropriate interventions including medical reviews, BBV interventions and community-based recovery support ie SMART / Fellowship and i-access group programme.

To provide clinical care for service users with drug and alcohol dependency issues including knowledge of Opiate Substitution Therapy and Alcohol Treatment Pathways in the Community.

To provide high quality substance misuse information, advice, support, liaison, treatment and signposting.

To work closely with the MDT, service users, 1:1 brief work including assessments / joint assessments, provide advice, information, support and substance misuse interventions and work collaboratively with the team.

Degree in relevant health related area
NMC registration

Evidence of continuing professional development in relevant subjects

Minimum of 2 years experience working in a substance misuse setting
