Person specification:


The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • The role focuses on supporting the Directors to provide strategic insight on all elements of Business Change, ensuring coherence of activity across a shared Portfolio and cohesion of action across all of their SCS1 direct reports and business groupings.
  • You will be responsible for driving the Directors' priorities across the department; and influential across the wider Defence Digital and Chief Information Officer (CIO) Management Structure; you will also lead on key stakeholder engagement, drawing in business priorities and demand for the future.
The key areas of focus for the Directors are:

  • Defence Digital Transformation including Strategic Workforce Transformation and improving portfolio performance, with the aim to deliver improved customer service, better ways of working and greater operating efficiency This role is key in supporting the Programme Management of these initiatives.
  • Supporting the embedding of the new Service Executives within each of the Delivery Teams, to focus each area and the appropriate component teams towards endtoend service ownership and design.
  • Overcoming complexities and barriers in processes which hinder rather than support Defence Digital's people, programmes, and customers to achieve all they can within the constraints of public spending and commercial integrity.

In supporting delivery of above, you will:

  • Support the Directors to deliver their brief, working closely with the Management Team, other senior stakeholders, and the broader Defence Digital team.
  • Lead on driving efficiency across the Service Delivery Directorate by identifying and eliminating duplication, reducing overheads, removing redundant processes, and introducing automation where appropriate.
  • Driving improvement of the MI landscape, ensuring it delivers the required insight.
  • Line manage 1x Assistant Chief of Staff (HEO), 1x Private Secretary (HEO), 2x Executive Assistants (EO); ongoing engagement and matrix management as required of other outer office team members.
  • Dependent on the 'tasking' and business need, there may be a requirement to travel to meetings within the UK.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (the permanent duty station, MOD Corsham, which is based on business assessment of where the work is best done) and working from home as a personal choice (if the role is suitable for this).
