We are looking to appoint an FY1 Trust grade doctor from April - August 2024. This post will be working in Trauma & Orthopaedics and also covers emergency general surgeryIn addition, the appointee will have the opportunity to enhance their skills in emergency general surgery. This will be as part of a 1 in 8 rota for FY1's. This rota includes daytime shifts during the week and includes weekends. Appropriate zero days are given within the rota.
During the on-call shifts, you will be expected to support the EGS team in seeing patients on wards and clerking in the Emergency Department.
There will also be opportunities to attend emergency theatre, and training in routine emergency operations such as laparoscopic appendectomy will be available.
Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a medium sized local hospital providing acute and community health services for Hackney, The City and surrounding communities and provides a range of specialist services for a much wider population.
We provide general hospital and community services to Hackney and the City of London, and specialist care in obstetrics, neonatology, foetal medicine, fertility, bariatric surgery and neuro rehabilitation across east London and beyond.
The principal purpose of the Trust remains to provide goods and services for the purposes of the health service in England, and has a duty to do this effectively, efficiently and economically.
The Trust comprises of Homerton Hospital in Hackney and the Mary Seacole Nursing Home, situated in Shoreditch as well as Hackney and the City Community Health Services.
Over 3500 staff are directly employed by the trust, with a further 1000 contracted to work for us or placed here for training.
In the latter group are pre and post registration medical and health care professional trainees from the London Deanery, Barts and the London Medical School, City University and East London University.
