    Due to career progression an exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and flexible Occupational Therapist to join the Orthopaedic Inpatient Therapy team.


    Previous projects have included removing post operative hip precautions, setting up day case arthroplasty surgery and contributing to the development of the inpatient splinting and bracing service.

    The Orthopaedic service provides rehabilitation for a diverse client group throughout the South Yorkshire region.

    The successful candidate will have the the opportunity to develop their skills treating patients with a wide range of conditions including major trauma, acute spinal injuries, Ilizarov and external fixator frames, fractured neck of Femurs and much more.


    The post holder will be involved in service improvement projects, staff development and education and will work under the direct supervision and support of a clinical specialist Occupational Therapist.

    The role requires working primarily at the Northern General Hospital. Successful candidates will also contribute to the Orthopaedic weekend roster.
    A BSc in Occupational Therapy.

    Post graduate experience sufficient to acquire core competencies in Occupational Therapy practice.

    The knowledge and skills to manage a complex specialist caseload of orthopaedic patients.

    Evidence of continuous personal & professional development.

    Support, supervision and opportunities for Continuing Professional Development.

    The opportunity to shape and develop the Occupational Therapy Service in line with local and government initiatives.

    Appropriate training in fracture bracing and splinting.

    BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
    Short Specialist post-registration training programmes

    Post-registration experience of sufficient to acquire core competencies in Occupational Therapy practice for medical, surgical and neurological conditions and the knowledge and skill to manage a complex specialist caseload in the chosen field

    Clinical Governance or Health & Safety, link worker
    Clinical Effectiveness course/Project

    Further Training
    Evidence of continuous personal & professional development
    Good post-registration theoretical and practical knowledge of therapy practice in chosen field

    Competency in occupational therapy clinical reasoning, processes & practices
    Understanding of therapy in an acute hospital
    Understanding of stress and ability to help others cope under pressure

    Flexible and reliable approach to working practices
