    Salary Range: £27,000 - £35,000 per annum

    Reports To: Senior Engineer

    Location: Cambridge, UK (office based in Granta Park)

    Job Type: Permanent, full time

    Role Purpose

    The company is growing quickly, and we are looking to take on an experienced Instrument Technician to support the Operations team. This role will be mostly laboratory based, with an emphasis on data management, report writing and maintaining a well organised workplace. The role will also provide support to the wider Operations team and other areas of the business on an ad-hoc basis.

    The Senior Instrument Technician will ensure our cutting-edge technology and instruments operate correctly and to designed specifications. Full training will be provided but it is expected that the right individual will bring with them a good knowledge of trouble shooting and repair procedures and have some experience working with electronic, electro-mechanical and/or laboratory instrumentation. The Senior Instrument Technician will report to the Senior Engineer and support the Quality team, as well as help with ad hoc tasks within the Operations group.

    The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, keen to learn and develop new skills, as well as having a keen eye for detail. A structured approach to their work is important, as is excellent adherence to procedures, high quality standards and Health & Safety.     The role of the Senior Instrument Technical is varied and as part of a rapidly growing company there is scope for learning and progression within the business.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Test and calibration of a range of cutting edge, microfluidic based instrumentation.
    • Performing standard QC tasks within the test lab, developing into a subject matter expert.
    • Liasing with other departments to measure, record, correct and prevent technical issues.
    • Recording results and keeping records including the QMS up to date.
    • Collating results into customer facing reports.
    • Working to high quality standards and follow SOPs.
    • Keeping track of calibration logs, servicing records and other areas of lab maintenance
    • Producing data analysis on variation between results and producing hypothesis.
    • Identify and communicate bottlenecks and problematic processes.
    • Ensure compliance with appropriate safety procedures in collaboration with the H&S department.
    • Provide ad-hoc support to a variety of engineering and lab based teams as required.

    Knowledge, Skills & Experience

    • Minimum A level education within an Engineering discipline.
    • 2/3 years' experience in a test or repair environment.
    • Experience identifying faults and repairing electrical and electronic instrumentation would be an advantage.
    • ISO9001 experience preferred, GLP/GMP also advantageous.
    • Confident presenting KPIs and other updates at weekly team meetings.
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are essential.
