The report "Accelerating Genomic Medicine in the NHS" recognises the vital role that digital transformation is playing in the future of the NHS and outlines a vision for how genomics can drive dramatic improvements in patient care.

The NHS has identified the following 3 key areas to deliver on this promise:

  • Developing an interoperable informatic and data infrastructure that enables the NHS to use and share genomic data appropriately to improve patient care.
  • Putting the NHS at the forefront of using genomic data alongside other health data to drive health improvements for individuals and populations.
  • Enabling the NHS to use cuttingedge analytical tools and up to date variant databases to maximise diagnosis, access to precision medicine and efficiency.
Main duties of the job

You will lead the delivery of the East GMSA Informatics strategy and the following objectives.

A.

Create a regional genomic testing network with an underpinning informatics infrastructure based on interoperability which enables East Genomics to move away from paper-based systems.

B.

Allow digital data to be accessed, shared and be readily available across the East Genomics to support the delivery of Genomics services.

C. Have in place effective informatics infrastructure to ensure equity of access to testing for our patients across the region

D. Ensure the timely provision of data to enable research and support implementation of new pathways and outcomes

E. Enable the routine generation of data for analytics and management information

F. Adhere to the highest expectations and standard requirements related to data sharing interoperability

G.

Have an information governance framework in place that supports the sharing and use of data for both clinical and research purposes.

H. Utilise existing stratified data available through Population Health Management to provide insights and partner with PHM initiatives in the ICSs to ensure genomics data is used are to improve health and wellbeing across the region

Essential criteria

  • Educated to a minimum of Master's degree level, or equivalent post graduate qualification or experience
  • Degree level or equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of management development through Continuous Professional Development and/or formal management course

  • Ability to analyse data for information and/or performance measurement within the context of the relevant health and care environment
  • Ability to employ applicable data sources to produce valid, verifiable and replicable analyses

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
