    Job summary

    If you are a newly qualified or already a band 5 nurse who wants the opportunity to be developed, we are looking for nurses that want to make a difference to join our dedicated team on the Southgate Ward , based at Wedgwood House, Suffolk as a B and 5 Mental Health Nurse.

    Southgate Ward is a a mixed sex adult acute mental health ward. We have 16 beds on our unit and work with working age adults with varying mental health difficulties.

    We are looking for a Band 5 Nurse who has skills in working with adults and their families and carers. Whilst experience in working within inpatient settings would make you perfectly suited to this role, we are really open to welcoming people from clinical backgrounds who have experience in other areas. We would like individuals to be well motivated, have good interpersonal skills, personal resilience, and an enthusiasm for working with children and their families whilst they are going through a difficult and stressful period in their lives, in terms of their mental health and well-being.

    The unit is open 27/7 and shifts including day and night shifts and successful candidates will need to cover all shifts.

    Main duties of the job

    You will be working within an inpatient service with a focus on a recovery approach. You will have the opportunity to lead and direct the structure and focus of the ward routine for service users and staff and contribute to service developments bridging inpatient and community services.

    As a Band 5 Nurse at Southgate, you will have the opportunity to develop both clinical and leadership skills in an exciting and dynamic environment.

You would be involved in the planning and delivering of interventions to support goal-based recovery plans.

    It can be a challenging environment at times, so we need clinicians with a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and a hands-on approach. It is vital that the clinician is reflective, can see the importance of working across systems, and can do that effectively.

    **This post attracts a recruitment premium of £3,000 (pro-rata for part time roles). This is a one off payment with half paid on appointment and half paid after the completion of a satisfactory probation period (6 months). The premium is taxable. Please note that should you leave employment, or choose to move to an alternative post within the Trust that does not attract this recruitment premium, you will be required to reimburse all or some it, as follows: 100% of the value of the premium in the first 12 months; 50% of the value of the premium in the period 12 months to 2 years following appointment.
