    Job summary

    We are looking for compassionate and driven Learning Disability Registered Nurses to join the multi-disciplinary team at Bankfields Court. The successful candidates will work across a range of units alongside other Registered Nurses, Clinical Leads, Ward Manger, Modern Matron and member of our multi disciplinary team such as Positive Behaviour Support team, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Psychology.

    The registered nurse will lead the shift with support from health care assistants focusing on the needs of specific client(s) for the 12 hour period. All nursing care will be co-ordinate and led by the candidate ensuring staff and patient safety when working with behaviours that challenge and autism. The registered nurse will be responsible for ensuring least restrictive interventions, debriefs and promotion of quality of life whilst following and leading positive behavioural support care plans.

    This post is only open to those candidates who already have their NMC registration in place and have successfully completed the preceptorship programme. Please note: Newly qualified applicants or those due to qualify will be recruited via a separate process.

    Main duties of the job

    To improve the lives of people using our services by minimising the impact of their condition through the delivery of excellent services to promote recovery and be compassionate in meeting the needs of patients and their achieve successful completion of the Preceptorship be professionally accountable and responsible for patient care, undertaking a range of clinical / therapeutic interventions through in reach, patients' homes, and other community as a key worker as appropriate (currently lead professional or care co-ordinator).To facilitate others in the team to develop competence by providing leadership, day to day supervision, clinical advice and clinical supervision to other practitioners and students as promote social inclusion, community access and participation through the provision of patient work as part of a ward / community team which may be integrated, working collaboratively and in partnership with local authority be committed to and involved in activities integral to the Trust's Quality Improvement promote at all times positive images of people who use our services and the wider be responsible for the day to day running of the ward

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD (RNSC - CAMHS only )
  • To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale
  • Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities
  • Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
  • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Working in partnership with other agencies
  • Working with people with autism and or behaviours that challenge
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation ( Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
  • Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
  • Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
