    Electrical Engineer (Furnace) Blaenavon South Wales 37 hours per week Possible shifts
    We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Maintenance Team in Blaenavon.

    The successful candidate will support Operations in achieving maximum uptime, reliability, efficiency and safety of all furnace equipment and carry out furnace surveys, calibrations, PPM's of furnaces & general checks to ensure equipment is fit for purpose.


    Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

    • To support production activities at all times by ensuring minimum response times to equipment breakdown.
    • Respond as necessary to operational priorities seeking clarity from Operations or Maintenance Management where necessary.
    • Execute tasks in line with Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule, ensuring work is carried out in compliance within all statutory Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and in accordance with internal risk assessments.
    • Undertake effective fault finding and rectification of plant and equipment failures to include the effective Root Cause analysis and the implementation of both short term and long term corrective actions.
    • Identification and introduction of improvements in conjunction with other departments to support equipment reliability and operation.
    • To work alongside sub-contractors as required and take the lead in such circumstances.
    • Assist in Installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment.
    • Fully utilise the Pirana CMMS.
    Essential Experience / Qualifications


    • Formally trained through an engineering apprenticeship, preferably to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
    • Broad range of experience in all aspects of maintenance in heavy engineering environments.
    • Familiarity of operating CMMS packages.
    • Used to working in a pressurised environment, with particular regard to tight downtime constraints.
    • Computer literate.
    • Knowledge of fault finding & understanding electrical drawings.
    • Knowledge & experience of working with a variety of voltages 24v DC, 110v AC, 240V AC , 415v AC
    Desirable Experience / Qualifications (Not essential – training provided)


    • Experience of furnaces and combustion systems.
    • Experience of calibrations, thermocouples, furnace control.
    • Experience of electrical furnaces & control – thyristors, elements.
    • Experience of carrying out uniformity furnace surveys, SATs.
