    Description

    Established in the 1980's, Surya, part of Flying Trade Group is a rapidly expanding family owned business with a £168 million annual turnover and 1458 strong employee base. With our flagship Laila brand, 17 quality grains, 200k tones milling capacity and BRC AA grade facility, we are a major Global Foods supplier in the Asian, Oriental, European and Afro-Caribbean sectors. Expanding fast into mainstream FMCG territory.

    We are expanding our Technical team and are now looking for a Food Quality Manager to join our business.

    The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker who will proactively assist with improving the quality systems of the company through internal audits, participation in process improvement programs, and interaction with key customers / suppliers.

    The role is site based at our offices in Harwich, Essex, CO12 4PT.

    • Salary - Competitive (DOE)
    • Hours- 8am-5pm or a variation of
    • Days- Monday to Friday (Flexibility required as per the business needs)

    Responsibilities:

    Reporting to the Site Group Head of Technical, you will oversee and manage all quality compliance within a busy food manufacturing site in Harwich, Essex. Candidates will need to be able to commute and / or relocate to our 11 acre site.

    Duties to include:

    • Implement and maintain quality systems to uphold the highest standards.
    • Lead and coordinate BRC audits with finesse and confidence.
    • Ensure compliance with HACCP Level 3 standards to guarantee food safety.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Oversee quality assurance processes from raw materials to final products.

    Experience:

    • Previous experience in a food management role is required
    • Previous experience of supporting with BRC audits
    • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, including HACCP principles
    • Experience in quality assurance and implementing quality control measures
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advantageous but not essential
    • 5+ years' relevant work experience in a similar FMCG organisation
    • HACCP minimum level 3
    • TACCP/VACCP level 2 minimum
    • Internal Audit certificated
    • Knowledge of BRCGS Version 9
    • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
