    Youth Minister Plus

    This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop our youth ministry in helping young people to follow Jesus, whilst also providing scope for involvement and leadership in other areas of ministry according to your gifts and interests. We are committed to developing you in this role as part of a supportive staff team and congregation. Building team and equipping others is central to how we do ministry.

    What does the job involve?

    Leading St Paul's ministry to young people aged 11-18

    • Enabling young people to grow deeper in relationship with God, closer as an authentic community in Christ and wider as they reach out with his love
    • Developing and implementing vision for growth
    • Coordinating Sunday and midweek youth groups
    • Leading and growing the volunteer team
    • Fostering intergenerational relationships and ministry
    • Working in partnership with the Children's Families and Community Minister on joint projects
    • Working as an integral member of the church leadership team
    • Acting as a Deputy Parish Safeguarding Officer

    Enabling discipleship of young people within the church

    • Pastoring, equipping and encouraging young people to grow as full members of the church, owning their faith and deepening in relationship with God
    • Involvement and oversight of active mentoring scheme offered to young people
    • Enabling young people to continue to lead and serve (many are currently involved in leading worship and within children's ministry)
    • Supporting young people as they make the transition to adult church
    • Supporting parents in the discipling of their children through the pre-teen and teenage years

    Developing and implementing effective strategies for evangelism

    • Providing opportunity for young people in the community to connect with church
    • Equipping Christian young people to share their faith

    Leading, supporting or equipping in another area of church life

    • This will be explored during the appointment process

    This is a full-time post involving flexible working as required by the demands of the role. Sunday is a key working day and there will be frequent evening work commitments. You will receive at least one full day off during the week.

    • Someone who loves Jesus and the church, and is committed to growing in their own faith
    • A dynamic, relational leader with vision, energy and wisdom to help young people to follow Jesus in the context of the challenges they face today
    • An initiative-taker, proactive and motivated in serving God's vision for the church
    • Someone with a good understanding of theology and youth work practice, and with a willingness to learn and grow
    • A team-builder able to equip others and delegate effectively
    • A good communicator to a wide range of age, ability and stage of faith
    • Someone who is organised and able to manage their time effectively
