Building Surveyor

Location:
Northfleet. You will be working all around West Kent (Ashford, Sevenoaks etc.)

Salary:
£40,000 - £45,000 per year.

Hours: 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday.

Job type:
Permanent, full-time

Responsible to:
Building and Planning Manager

MAIN TASKS OF JOB:

Day to day assistance with building projects
Site visits and inspections
Measured surveys, kitchens, bathrooms and building alterations
Specification writing
Existing and proposed floor plans, elevations and section drawings
Liaising with key Clients and customers
Provide assistance to surveying team
Client stock condition, damp/mould, structural, and asbestos surveys
Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors
Carry out such further tasks as may be from time to time delegated to you by your manager.

H&S RESPONSIBILITIES:

Comply and ensure compliance with H&S policies and procedures
Responsibility for the H&S towards yourself and all others who may be affected by your work
Use equipment and substances in accordance with training and instructions provided
Work collaboratively with the HSE Consultant and HSP Coordinator to ensure that adequate resources are available for H&S requirements
Promote leadership and commitment to company H&S
Enforce personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements to ensure used and fit for use/purpose
Notify HSE Consultant, HSP Coordinator, or Directors of any H&S issues that may present a serious and imminent danger and/or of any shortcomings in the company's H&S protection arrangements.

KEY QUALITIES:

Building Surveying Degree or equivalent
Extensive maintenance surveying experience
Excellent communication skills at all levels

- both written and verbal

Ability to see potential problems and work through solutions until resolution is reached, in all areas of the work
Knowledge of Health and Safety
Good timekeeper and flexible approach to work
Ability and willingness to learn new skills and attend relevant training courses as and when required
Must be selfmotivated and positive
Ability to consistently produce work of the highest standard with good attention to detail
Ability to organise the workload of your team to make effective use of their time
Must be flexible and prepared to undertake a variety of tasks as directed by Directors
Must be prepared to participate in the training of apprentices and to assist the Company with its local employment initiatives
Must possess a driving licence and be willing to travel to and work in areas outside of Kent when required.
