Welfare Worker - Full Time (Term Time Only is available) - from £10.00 per hour

William Morris School is based on the edge of Eastington, close to the M5.

The school is a day school and proposed boarding school, for pupils with specific or moderate learning difficulties, cognitive and learning needs with an age range between 7 and 19 years of age.

William Morris School has a unique caring environment that is both a therapeutic Boarding provision as well as an educational with facilities that enable the young people to thrive.


Working in the boarding provision you will be involved in supporting and enriching the lives of pupils in a person-centred way.

Your day will involve enriching and supporting the lives of the young pupils within the boarding provision, working in a person-centred way and as part of a bigger team.

Your day will involve supporting the rhythms and routines of the pupils and the provision working in ways that are therapeutic and homely.


Duties for the role, creating a safe and environment in which the boarding pupils will live throughout the term, enabling them to access both educational health and leisure activities, actively contributing to the placement planning and recording systems.

Setting realistic goals and enabling them to achieve these outcomes working from EHCP plans as well as ensuring electronic plans are up to date and well organised you will also have a responsibility to be a good role model and ensure all health and wellbeing needs are met which may entail taking them to medical and professional appointments and feeding back any outcomes.


The duties within the Boarding provision will also mean that you are engaging and enriching the lives of the young people ensuring that they have the maximum opportunities to enjoy and achieve positive outcomes both in leisure and relational health.

Working alongside both clinical education and youth support groups to work as part of a professional multi-disciplinary team.

Duties will entail homely tasks such supporting mealtimes/cooking with pupils, creating nurturing environments that support the pupil social emotional development and enabling them to create routines around life and developing skills that will enable them in to have positive futures.


As part of this we will set good role modelling values that will create safe environments for those that safety is paramount.

Some experience of working with/children and young people would be desirable but this is not essential if you can work as a team and want to learn to get involved in making a difference.


Welfare workers will work a set two-week fixed rota, which is on average 40 hours per week and two sleep in shifts.

The school is open 39 weeks of the year so you would have the option of this or working 52 weeks however these extra weeks would be in our sister school site.


For those that feel they have lack of experience or are new to care, there are fantastic training and development opportunities and access to a comprehensive training programme including RQF3.

Staff are also offered regular professional supervision.

As well as the mandatory training provided to all staff, we offer the Level 4 Certificate in Trauma Informed Care as well as other training to help support the role.


Novalis trust follow a therapeutic model of approach which enables staff to better understand what trauma is and how to be trauma informed within our professional practice.


  • Salary: £10.00 per hour with the opportunity to do overtime & sleepins paid at £8
