About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a
Regional Fleet Compliance Officer to join our Plant & Fleet business unit to work across the
Scotland region.**
Please Note:This role will require the successful applicant to hold a full drivers license.


Within this role you'll be reporting into the Midland Region Transport Manager, you will control the commercial vehicle fleet in a geographical area ensuring all road fleet compliance policies and legislative requirements are adhered to.

Whilst alsoensuring an efficient service delivery of commercial vehicle fleet & driver legal compliance, predominantly to support the Balfour BeattyVinci/Hs2 project in upholding the BB Group Operator Licence statutory undertakings.


What you'll be doing

As a
Regional Fleet Compliance Officer you will:


  • Take ownership and control of Transport Compliance aspects of the project commercial vehicle fleet
  • Plan and schedule large goods vehicle maintenance events.
  • Plan, schedule and liaise with suppliers to ensure ancillary equipment is maintained.
  • Moniter and support site staff with vehicle maintenance arrangements at site level as required.
  • Moniter and support site staff with the maintenance of driver records at site required.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory/legal undertakings e.g. O Licence centre margins, issuing of O Licence discs, parking in approved operating centre.
  • Day to day management of the HGV preuse check and defect reporting APP based system.
  • Day to day management of tachograph VU & driver card downloading, reporting and infringement actions.
  • Driver responsibility briefings either via elearning or face to face briefings, inductions and tool box talks on company policy and legislation.
  • Regularly attend sites to uphold fleet compliance and support operations, including documenting such visits.
  • Hold regular meetings with site management and supervisors including documenting such meetings.
  • Support and facilitate driving licence checks, permit to drive renewals and DCPC training together with any other transport related competencies.
  • Carry out random basic vehicle roadworthiness checks (to a standard that could reasonably be expected of a vocational driver)
  • Carry out random vehicle weight checks
  • Carry out random checks on driver documentation
  • To be the focal and escalation point for vehicle maintenance planning and transport compliance in the region
  • Assist transport managers with transport/compliance investigations
  • Ensuring adherence to legislation and company policy's
  • Report near miss events
  • Complete all documentation and update system records accurately and promptly.

Who we're looking for

Personal Qualities and Experience:

  • Previous experience of vehicle engineering and/or road transport operations;
  • Communication Skills (Written & Verbal);
  • Presentations Skills;
  • IT literate (Word & Excel);
  • Familiar with HGV and/or Light Commercial vehicle operations & regulations.
  • Full UK' driving Licence.
