Fire Service Engineer - London Area


FAFS Fire & Security are the specialist
Fire Detection and Alarm Systems specialist division of Marlowe Fire & Security Group.

We are looking to expand our Team by appointing a number of new
Fire Service Engineer'sto service Fire and associated systems in line with the current regulations.


The Role
To service Fire and associated systems in line with the current regulations. Liaising with relevant departments to ensure best practice and the most cost-effective solution. To complete and return all Company documentation and certification to comply withthe Company's ISO 9001 systems and procedures.

To work as a team with colleagues and Service Manager to enhance the Company's reputation in quality and customer service.

  • Carry out scheduled routine servicing in a timely, efficient, and costeffective manner in line with our Company's quality standards
  • Carry out all other necessary works required at customer premises in accordance with our Company's quality standards
  • Support the rota schedule as required to maintain a reliable and responsive out of hours service for our customers
  • Effectively communicate with our customers to ensure a good understanding of system and site status, particularly system defects that affect its correct function
  • Indicate to our client's customers any Fire Safety information relevant to the site
  • Liaise with service administrators to ensure service commitments are met
  • Plan own work, including routine service/maintenance visits, emergency call out requirements and remedial repairs and minor additions to existing installations in line with service administration guidance
  • Ensure legible and timely completion of our clients' paperwork as required
  • Be responsible for the management and security of own equipment stock in an efficient and economical manner by determining stock levels in relation to work activities and ordering stock items as and when appropriate
  • Operate in accordance with our client's requirements, Company and customer's quality standards and health and safety requirements
  • Discuss and recommend suggestions for system/service improvement with Line Manager
  • Attend training sessions identified by our clients and identify and communicate to Line Manager any personal training and development needs

Accountability

  • Leaving our customers with fully functioning fire detection, alarm systems unless Line Manager and customer have informed of the reasons that completion is not possible before leaving the premises

Technical Knowledge

  • Full and detailed understanding of BS5839 Part
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of the causes and cures of fire alarm problems, including an ability to recommend changes to practices and processes that may cause false alarms as well as changes to the fire detection, alarm systems
  • Basic Electrical Safety training (ECA)
  • Manufactures training in all other equipment required. This may include VESDA, Radio and Fire Suppression and will be decided by the Line Manager based on regional needs Standards BS7671 (if involved in installation work) BS5839 Part 1 BS6266 where required
  • To operate business procedures within the framework of BN EN ISO 9001:2000
  • Preferred knowledge and capabilities on working on manufacturers Siemens and Gent analogue Fire alarm systems

About you:


  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a like for like or similar role.
  • Ability to work in a team and individually
  • Good attention to detail
  • Self motivated and encourage and promote a calm working environment
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills
  • Experience in the use of Cash for Windows would be advantageous


  • Computer skills

  • Word, Excel, be receptive to training on unfamiliar operating systems i.e. C4W, customer portal logging systems (i.e. Northgate
    )
