Alma Personnel are please to be recruiting for and experienced Buyer for our Coventry based manufacturing client, who has manufacturing and fabrication commodities experience.

Hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm, Friday 8.30 am to 2pm, with some flexibility required.


You will be responsible for the management of nominated commodities through it's supply chain function to identify and manage its supplier base, strategically and operationally.


Sourcing and purchase of relevant components and materials, ensuring quality, cost and other relevant factors such as delivery are within specification and target.


Follow through supply chain cost, quality and service objectives through successful delivery of strategies that result in identification, negotiation and contracting with suppliers that will deliver clear identified benefits.


Material Cost Reduction, Supplier Quality and Delivery performance, Inventory Management, Supplier Rationalisation, Supplier Payment Terms and number of completed Preferred Supplier Agreements (PSA).

Work closely with Group Purchasing Team to ensure effective supply to the business whilst developing supplier relationships.

Effective Market Price Analysis - via traditional benchmarking techniques (RFQ/QAF)

Create robust supply agreements

Responsible for Xm spend - specific details depending on 'portfolio' (£5m - £25m)

You will need to have had suitable purchasing/buying experience with exposure to manufacturing/engineering environment.

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, JIT and KanBan
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven record of cost reductions
  • Understand Contractual Law
  • Ability to control and improve cost of materials whilst maintaining integrity
  • Project Management Skills,
